The actor David Verdaguer he puts himself in the shoes of the Catalan Eugeni Jofra Bafalluy, better known as Eugenio, the famous comedian who conquered the stages of the 80s and 90s in Spain, in the film that narrates his life, You know that one, directed by the filmmaker David Trueba and released in theaters on November 1. “I was enthralled by Eugenio, he was a funny Catalan and that didn’t always happen,” jokes Verdaguer in an interview.

We remember him almost always dressed in black, sitting on a stool with a vodka in his hand and, most likely, also accompanied by a cigarette: “The doctor gave me some pills that take away my desire to smoke. And it’s true, now I smoke.” without desire,” Eugenio said in one of his jokes.

The fiction dates back to long before Eugenio achieved fame: to his beginnings as a singer in a duo from ‘Els Dos’ together with his wife for many years, Conchita Alcaidethe girl to whom we owe Eugenio started telling jokes.

Trueba also enhances her figure with the help of the actress Carolina Yuste. “There will be so many Conchitas in history that we don’t know about, so many women who had to give up their projects and their lives to take care of them,” says Yuste.

“But despite the fun and funny appearance, inside there is something much more loaded with turbidity and darkness,” says Trueba, who wanted to narrate all those lights and shadows in this film: Eugenio like we had never seen it before and laughed.
