Eleni was born in 1956 into a family of immigrants from Greece. She had been singing since her school days, and in 1975 she started performing in the band Prometheus. It was there that she met her husband, Fotis Tzokas. His brother was the founder of the group. Eleni herself admitted that it was love at first sight. They got married a year later. In 1976, their first and only child, daughter Aphrodite, was born.

In 1994, a huge tragedy befell the Eleni and Fotis family. On January 20, Aphrodite was shot by her 21-year-old former partner. She was 17 years old and she met the man four years earlier. – I knew Piotr very well. He came to our house and visited us very often. Aphrodite was there too. I knew his mother – recalled Helena Tzoka in the “” program in a conversation with Krzysztof Ziemiec. The relationship began to break down when Aphrodite got into an art school. Piotr, who was four years older than her, began to be morbidly jealous, constantly controlling her and persuading her to break off contacts with her friends. Finally, the teenager broke up with the man. – She had a premonition that something bad would happen. She also told this to her friends at school, but they replied that it was nonsense. “How can he hurt you?” I didn’t like it very much – Eleni.

That morning, Piotr took Aphrodite to Lake Powidzkie. There he shot her twice, first in the temple, then straight in the heart. The next day he was arrested and in court he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. – Our whole world has collapsed. When this tragedy happened, it was as if at one moment we were left with nothing – Eleni in an interview with the portal niedziela.pl. Piotr was released from prison in 2013, six years before the end of his sentence. He changed his name and left Poland. Eleni took a step that many parents of victims think is impossible. She forgave the man who betrayed her daughter. – Forgiving does not mean forgetting – she noted in an interview with “Kobieta i Życie”. – If I didn’t forgive, I wouldn’t be alive – she added.
Aphrodite would be 47 years old in 2023. Since 1994, Eleni has been repeating the same ritual on her birthday. – In my heart, Aphrodite will always live. I still celebrate every birthday, anniversary of her death, I wonder what she would be like, what she would do, if she would have children. But I don’t despair every day. I have come to terms with the thought that my child is now in a better world – in “Your Empire”.
