From November 1 to 5, the MAAC lobby will host the Festival for the Day of the Dead, which will bring together a series of activities aimed at commemorating this date when loved ones who are no longer here are remembered.
Why November 2 is the Day of the Dead or All Souls’ Day
Lectures, concerts, workshops and other surprises are part of the meeting that takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free admission. These activities are carried out in a joint action between the MAAC, the Prefecture of Santa Elena, the Economic Cultural Fund, the Bolivarian Technological Institute and the Mexican community in Guayaquil.
A Mexican death altar and a table for the dead from Ecuador will be installed at the site; these will be displayed to the public each day of the holiday. In addition, there will be tastings of colada morada, bread guaguas and Catrina makeup for visitors.
“This festival promises respect and loving memory of our dearly departed ones”said a statement from the museum.
The schedule for each day will be as follows. Please note that you must register in advance to participate in the workshops:
Wednesday November 1
Thursday November 2
Friday November 3
Saturday November 4
Sunday November 5
