Franciszek Pieczka died on September 23, 2022. He played in about 450 productions, but his greatest popularity was the role of Gustlik in the series “Czterej pancerni i pies”. The first episode was broadcast on May 9, 1966 and was titled “Crew”. Few people know that in the 41st minute we witness a scene that, if filmed, could have seriously injured the actor. Gustlik was the loader of the tank and at the same time the strongest in the crew. He liked to show off his skills and often saved the lives of his colleagues. When the group received a new tank, he became a gunner and was eventually promoted to the rank of sergeant. In the first episode, Wichura tries to start the truck’s engine using a crank. He fails, so Jeleń steps in. He grabs the crank and wraps his thumb around her arm. If the engine had turned to the left, Franciszek Pieczka’s thumb would have been knocked out or broken off. This is a serious mistake that could have caused the actor to suffer a hand injury.
