Gąsiu is an actor, dancer, LGBT+ activist, queer artist and drag queen. He is also the hero of the series “Naked. Loud. Proudly”, which can be watched on HBO Max. Last Friday, he went to the headquarters of Telewizja Polska to submit his CV there. He visited the building on Woronicza Street as a drag queen. The entire action was recorded and later made available on the Internet.
“Gąsiu” went to the TVP headquarters to take Holecka’s place in “Wiadomości”. He has his reasons
In an interview, the artist revealed why he decided to take such actions. This is primarily related to the slander of him by the so-called government media in recent years. In an interview, he revealed how he dealt with the persecution carried out against him.
– Over time, these terrible TVP reports stopped impressing me, and today I am immune to them. But at the very beginning I was panicked, mainly because my parents watch TVP. I wondered: what would they think if they heard that their son “sexualized children”? Even though I know that this is all nonsense prepared on behalf of a party that is interested in preying on people, admitted Gąsiu.
A lot of bad things were said about me, my performances at Equality Marches were manipulated, and later people were convinced that I was encouraging young people to take drugs. Meanwhile, as part of an educational campaign together with the Social Education Foundation, we wanted to prevent the deaths of those who already use these drugs.
“This campaign had a very high price. (…) Many employees of Telewizja Polska must be held accountable.”
Mateusz “Gąsiu” Gąsiowski also mentioned that he expects accountability for all people who worked at Telewizja Polska and constantly attacked the LGBT+ community. – Let us remember that this campaign had a very high price – it cost the health and often even the lives of people from the rainbow community. It is impossible to erase the past, even though Warsaw is running out of shredders. Many employees of Telewizja Polska must be held accountable, he believes.
He also admitted that he is aware that many people from the rainbow community work for the politicized TVP, where they earn a lot of money. However, he emphasizes that, above all, he does not like it when such people attack other people in his own community. – They absolutely need to be out – he says.
My action of taking my CV to TVP has, of course, a symbolic, comedic nature, I would like to thank Mariusz Kozak and Sebastian Szarat for their help in implementing it. I didn’t expect to meet Danuta Holecka in the corridor, although I would like to talk to her about dirty things about me. That’s why I wish all of us on Rainbow Friday not to forget about the harm that TVP has caused to thousands of weaker people in this country – he explains why he went to the headquarters of Telewizja Polska.
