It would seem that going to a cemetery does not involve any special preparation. Apart from your mental attitude and preparing candles, matches and flowers, there are few things you need to think about. True? Well, not necessarily. It turns out that there are a few things that should not be forgotten. Otherwise, we may bring misfortune upon ourselves.
“For peace of mind”
People who believe in various superstitions are well aware of this. To everyone else, their behavior may seem strange or even funny. However, a large part of society – and not only Polish – tries to follow spiritual recommendations. Interestingly, you don’t have to be a particular believer to do this. After all, it often doesn’t require much effort, and maybe it’s worth doing it “for peace of mind.”
New boots? Be careful!
For years, as November 1 approaches, many people plan what they will wear. After all, at cemeteries you can meet family you haven’t seen for a long time, and sometimes, after visiting the deceased, there are family dinners or at least meetings for coffee and cake. Since the last such meeting took place months, or sometimes even years, earlier, it would be appropriate to present yourself well. It turns out that it is better to think about styling for the “grobing” much earlier and not to shop at the last minute.
Particular emphasis is placed on footwear. According to beliefs, coming to the cemetery in new shoes can have disastrous consequences. Many people believe that in this way we expose ourselves to a quick and painful death. Perhaps restless souls also disapprove of a fashion show in their resting place and will plan revenge if someone dresses up.
