TVP’s “Wiadomości” talks about “powerful manipulation” and appeals to the president. “May be exposed”

Thursday’s edition (available at ), which was broadcast on October 6, 2023, continued the campaign against the opposition that began the day before and, in the opinion of , is planning an “attack on the media”. The report titled “They have an appetite for Polish television” reported an open letter in which right-wing journalists directly expressed their dissatisfaction and fears about the loss of freedom of speech.

The above-mentioned document, signed by a group of right-wingers, contained numerous accusations against opposition parties. They were accused of, among other things, pluralism, the desire to eliminate freedom of speech or the use of practices that took place during martial law. Then, in line with these points, a vision was presented of what the country’s situation might look like if the plan came into force. I don’t think anyone has any doubts that the message was intended to reach one person in particular, who is responsible for the decision to choose the person who will focus on implementing the mission of forming the new government. – The same journalistic community recalls specific comments that crossed borders and even concerned the head of state. They already indicate a similar tendency towards the current president, if there were cohabitation – said the program’s host, Marta Kielczyk, announcing another reportage with the telling title “Sowers of propaganda. A true story”.

The narrative of this material focused on the figure of Lech Kaczyński. At the beginning, the former president’s famous speech was quoted, which he delivered during the rally on August 12, 2008 in Tbilisi. – Today Georgia, tomorrow Ukraine, the day after tomorrow the Baltic states. And then maybe it’s time for my country, Poland, he said then. According to the author of the report, the words, which are reflected in today’s reality of the country, were particularly uncomfortable for . – I would warn everyone against excessive hyperactivity when it comes to certain initiatives and statements – viewers heard the former prime minister say. Further attempts were made to prove that the government of that time had only one goal, and the above-mentioned statement was supposed to be a confirmation of this. – They tried to eliminate the then president from political life, making foreign trips difficult and undermining his authority – thundered the reporter, Tomasz Handkus.

But that’s not the end. As the author of the report argues, during the opposition government, television was “extensively manipulated.” – Grotesque allegations were intertwined with seemingly serious ones – he said, recalling numerous situations in which President Kaczyński allegedly fell victim to lies and slander. – There are countless examples. However, Lech Kaczyński never gave in to their pressure – he continued, thus appealing to the head of state. – Today, he may be exposed to similar attacks as a political student and heir of Lech Kaczyński – said the reporter.
