After PiS took over the public media, Polish ones from TVP moved to Polsat. The program “Cabaret Live. Young and Moral” was created, which was very popular among viewers who appreciate humorous commentary on current events. Just before the elections, the situation for comedians became uncertain again.
Cabarets disappeared from Polsat before the elections. The show still hasn’t returned to air
Polsat canceled a cabaret program that was to be broadcast on election day. The station explained that it cared about the honesty of the election campaign. The overdue episode was supposed to appear a week later. . However, this time the schedule was changed. Instead of cabarets, viewers could watch a movie on Sunday evening.
Cabaret artists do not hide that they are concerned about the situation at Polsat. Kabaret Młodych Panów confirmed in an interview withkultura.gazeta.pl that it had not been informed about any sudden changes. Kabaret Moranych Niepokoju also told us that it did not know the reasons for the disappearance of the program. The comedians learned about the changes in the Sunday schedule on Friday afternoon.
Will Cabarets return Polsat to TVP? Comedians respond
The situation between cabaret artists and Polsat seems to be becoming more and more tense. The question arises whether, after the changes in public television announced by the opposition, will comedians return to TVP? The question was answered by, among others, Robert Górski. “Public television is a great place for cabaret. Provided that it is truly public. It needs to be built anew, with new people,” declares the comedian in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.
Robert Korólczyk from Kabaret Młodych Panów “would like to finish the task entrusted to him by Telewizja Polsat”, but he does not rule out cooperation with TVP. His conditions are similar to Górski’s. “There would have to be serious changes there, I would even say a revolution. For us, the most important thing is always the audience, which – I think – wants to watch us, no matter what station,” he said.
Members of Kabaret Skeczów Tęczowych, in turn, declare that they would like to be taken seriously. At the same time, Karol Golonka notes that the changes are not favorable to traditional media. “In the era of weakening television and the growing Internet, we have the impression that we need television more than television needs us,” says a representative of Kabaret Skeczów Męczemych.
