A week later, family and friends gathered at the Salwator Cemetery to say goodbye to the artist for the last time. During the ceremony, Dorota Segda, the late composer’s wife, gave a short but very touching speech. She turned to the doctors and nurses and quoted a fragment of a poem.
Dorota Segda’s touching speech during the funeral of Stanisław Radwan
“Thank you for the immense love for Staś and the tenderness with which you surrounded me during these last days. Thank you very much to the doctors from the University Hospital in Krakow, headed by our angel, Prof. Lucyna Mastalerz. Thank you Lucynka, thank you to the wonderful nurses” – said Stanisław Radwan’s wife.
Later, Dorota Segda quoted a fragment of the poem “At Wine” by Wisława Szymborska. The poem is dedicated to the poet’s love for Kornel Filipowicz. The mentioned fragment is below:
He looked at me, added to my beauty, and I took it as my own. Happy, I swallowed a star
Dorota Segda and Stanisław Radwan were married for 22 years. They got married in 2001, and their relationship was on many occasions due to their age difference. Radwan was 27 years older than the actress. Despite this, the spouses got along great and age did not bother them in any way.
Stanisław Radwan came from Krakow, where he graduated from the State Higher School of Music. He collaborated with, among others, Konrad Swinarski, Zygmunt Hübner and Lidia Zamkow.
