Will El¿bieta Jaworowicz lose her job under the new president of TVP? “The decline of the archaic format is coming”

El¿bieta Jaworowicz, like most TVP employees, is preparing for a change in the television management board. This change probably means not only a relaxation of government propaganda, but also a loss of positions as the “face” of TVP.

She has been associated with Polish Television for over 40 years. Her flagship program “A Case for a Reporter” was initially intended to publicize difficult cases of ordinary Poles, entangled in the forces between law, power and personal conflicts. In recent years, however, there has been more of a “show” than a real journalistic “issue”.

“A Case for a Reporter” is still popular. However, this may end under the new government after the upcoming change of power. According to all signs in heaven and on earth, as well as the announcements of opposition politicians who will soon form a new government, President Mateusz Matyszkowicz may already say goodbye to his position. , also Elżbieta Jaworowicz.

What about “A Case for a Reporter” after the elections?

It is not yet known who the democratic opposition sees as president as a replacement for Matyszkowicz. However, unofficial rumors talk about Janusz Daszczyński. Media expert Krzysztof Grzegorzewski in an interview with “Fakt” also indicates what the next steps in the transformation of TVP will be:

Daszczyński was already the president of TVP, but for a very short time. Knowing his biography, I am convinced that he would be a very good president. Following the president, the directors of the antennas and the people reporting to them will be replaced. Changes will begin there and it seems that some people have already started to feel these changes – said the media expert.

For Elżbieta Jaworowicz, such a change could be unfavorable. Daszczyński is not famous for his sympathy for “Sprawa dla reportera” and Jaworowicz, but he also sees in what direction the program has evolved. In an interview with Wirtualne Media, he said directly that it was an “archaic” format:

This archaic format is coming to an end. I notice his modifications, but unfortunately they go in an uninteresting direction – reducing the drama he talks about and the participation of disco-polo stars in it. I remember that during my short presidency, interrupted by PiS, I was amazed that “A Case for a Reporter” evoked so many emotions, including lawsuits. But when I found out that there was even an association of people harmed by Elżbieta Jaworowicz’s program, I stopped being surprised – he summed up.

Changes in TVP

Janusz Daszczyński was the president of TVP in 2015-2016. His term of office was shortened after PiS took power and, together with its coalition partners, expired the mandates of members of public media bodies. The directors of TVP1, TVP2, TVP Kultura and TAI resigned in protest against these actions. The protest did not help much – on January 7, 2016, the president signed an amendment to the act, adopted on the last day of 2015 by the Sejm. On January 8, the changes came into force, Daszczyński lost his position and Jacek Kurski took over on the same day.

At the beginning of 2016, a profound staff exchange began at TVP. Long-time collaborators who ran journalistic or news programs lost their jobs. In the following months and years, Diana Rudnik, Beata Tadla, Tomasz Sekielski, Piotr Kraśko, Robert Makłowicz, Maciej Orłości, Marzena Rogalska (in 2021, after the “Media without choice” protests), Michał Olszański, Robert Janowski, Artur said goodbye to TVP Orzech, Patrycja Kasperczak. Many people received notice of termination or their contracts were not renewed without any official reasons. However, some unofficially said that the reasons were the views (Michał Olszański), the WOŚP heart attached to his clothes (Patrycja Kasperczak), and unauthorized changes in the program (Grażyna Torbicka).
