In autumn, when it gets cold outside, the heating season begins. Unfortunately, due to frequent and common mistakes we make during this period, we can cause not only the temperature in the apartment to rise, but also the bills. What should you avoid to prevent this from happening? All you need to do is give up a few popular habits. We suggest which ones.

Do you dry your laundry on a radiator? This mistake can be costly
When there are low temperatures and high humidity outside, we often use heated radiators to dry laundry and also humidify the air. After all, who doesn’t like waking up in the morning and slipping on a warm sweatshirt? It turns out that such action can have disastrous consequences for our wallet, and it also significantly weakens the operation of radiators. How?
Why shouldn’t we hang wet laundry on the radiator? The explanation is simple
By spreading wet clothes or clothes on the radiator, we make… the heat it generates does not flow freely into the interior of the apartment. For this reason, it heads in the other direction and most often “escapes” through windows or balconies. As the room gets colder, we turn up the heaters more to generate even more heat. It, in turn, still cannot disperse inside, so we do not feel a significant difference. And so a vicious circle is created, resulting in higher bills and a cold room.
How to save on heating? Use curtains
If you care about the good performance of radiators and not necessarily high bills, it is better to forget about drying laundry on them. In addition, it is also worth using a trick that will work in the opposite way, i.e it will stop heat from escaping through the windows as much. What is it? All you need to do is cover the windows and balcony doors while unscrewing the radiators, e.g. thicker curtains or drapes. Do it in such a way as to create a material barrier between them and the material. Thanks to this, almost all the heat will remain in the room.
