Those who meet the age criterion can count on an honorary benefit. The allowance is available to people over 100 years of age. In 2023, it will be given to people born in 1923 and before it. This is the only condition that determines its granting. The amount of the pension received or other requirements are not taken into account. What’s more, you don’t have to submit any application to receive it, because it is granted automatically immediately after your 100th birthday. Moreover, it will be paid monthly and for life.
How much is the honorary benefit? Remember that it is not subject to indexation
From March 1, 2023, the honorary amount is exactly PLN 5,540.25 gross. How is its height calculated? This is the equivalent of 100 percent of the average salary less social security contributions. Although it changes at the beginning of March, unlike pensions or other allowances, it is not subject to indexation. This means that if you have been granted a benefit in a given amount, even if it is higher in subsequent years, it will not change in your case.
How many people receive honorary benefits? The majority are women
In 2022, the Social Insurance Institution will provide honorary benefits to 2.6 thousand people, of which 2.2 thousand were women. More detailed data is available only for 2018. From the data published for this period we can read that four years ago the average age of people who received the benefit was 102.25 years. The record holders were a 112-year-old woman and a 111-year-old man.
