The American actor who gave life to one of the most legendary characters on the big screen died on October 8 in Los Angeles, as reported by his daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser, although she has not detailed the causes of death. Burt Young gave life to Paulie PenninoRocky’s best friend and Adrianna’s brother in the legendary saga starring Sylvester Stallone.

Young was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1976 for his participation in the first film of ‘Rocky‘ and reprized the role of Paulie in the original six sequels.

Born Gerald Tommaso DeLouise in Queensborough, New York, he served in the Marine Corps from the US in the 1950s and later studied at Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio. She continued to build a career playing primarily tough and Italian-American characters on television and film.

In addition to the ‘Rocky’ saga, Young participated in other films such as ‘chinatown‘, ‘The Pope of Greenwich Village’ and ‘Once upon a Time in America‘. He also made numerous television guest appearances on series such as ‘M*A*S*H’, ‘The Rockford Files’, ‘Baretta’ and ‘Law‘.

In later years, Young made a name for himself as painter and his works were exhibited in galleries around the world.
