I learned firsthand how serious a problem bedbugs are. In 2019, I was finishing my studies and still living in a dormitory. One day in early March I woke up with a strange rash all over my body. I was horrified. I had absolutely no idea what was wrong with me. I was afraid of the worst diseases.
The same day I went to my family doctor. Unfortunately, I did not receive any useful information at that time. The doctor didn’t know what was wrong with me, so he ordered a blood test. However, blood tests did not reveal any abnormalities. And there were more and more strange spots on the body every day.
After a week, it turned out that my roommate had the same problem. At first she was ashamed to talk about it. However, when her parents said it might be bedbugs, she decided to talk to me about it. When I started fighting these insects, I had no idea how difficult this task would be. We reported the matter to the dormitory administration. The next day our room was visited by a gentleman who sprayed the beds with some preparation.

After a week, the bedbugs showed up again
We thought the problem was solved. Unfortunately, after a few days, one morning my roommate woke up with new bite marks. We reported it and the man with the preparation visited us again. We had peace for a few days. However, after about a week, the bedbugs made themselves felt again. Worst of all, at the beginning of this invasion, I visited my parents. At that time I didn’t know what it might involve. It turned out that I had brought them bedbugs in my suitcase. They struggled with them for almost half a year and spent a lot of money on various ineffective methods.
After more than two months of fighting insects, the dormitory administration decided to take a radical step. We had to move to a room that was rented to tourists. At that time, our room was gassed. We were only able to return to it after two weeks. It turned out that only this solution helped solve the problem.
I wouldn’t want to experience this nightmare again
After these experiences, I became very careful when traveling. For example, when I’m away from home overnight, I always keep my suitcase in the bathroom. And in hotels and hostels, I always check the beds for any suspicious traces that could indicate the presence of bedbugs. I am horrified when I read about the plague of these insects in various cities. I wouldn’t want to experience this nightmare again. To this day I still have dreams in which I see bedbugs on my bed…
However, it is worth publicizing this problem so that people know what they are dealing with. I noticed that our awareness is still very low. Initially, I suspected some serious disease. And if we had started doing something about it from day one, perhaps fighting insects would have taken us much less time and would have cost us less nerves.
