Not only TVP, Polskie Radio may also be preparing for changes. We know who will most likely become president

After the elections, we already know that there will be serious reshuffles in the government. This also means great changes for public media. The opposition declares that it wants to rebuild audience trust in Polish Television. Changes are also coming to Polish Radio.

Sunday’s elections herald changes in the government’s balance of power. The opposition lists the reform of public media among its priorities after forming the official coalition. This is not only about an attempt to regain trust in Polish Television, but also a revolution in Polish Radio.

After the elections, changes not only in TVP. Polish Radio is also waiting for decisions

As reported by Wirtualne Media, since Monday the Polish Radio headquarters “has an atmosphere like a besieged fortress”. Journalists are anxiously waiting for the decisions and moves of the new authorities, but they will probably not come as quickly as the slogans of the election campaigns might indicate. “No one is sure of their position, least of all people who hold prominent positions or were ‘gifted’,” says the informant.

Currently, the company is managed by Aleksandra Kamińska. It is clear to Polish Radio employees that this will soon change. Like Wirtualne Media, the opposition most often mentions the names of Anna Godzwon, Agnieszka Rucińska and Kamil Dąbrowa as potential successors of Kamińska. These were Polish Radio journalists who left the medium after changes in the composition of the management board.

Who will be the new president of Polish Radio?

Jan Ordyński from the Polish Radio program board admits in an interview with the portal that he has heard about Kamil Dąbrowa in conversations. “I think he is a very good candidate and has all the competences to take up this position. He is a radio man, a manager who headed the radio station. He has experience and predispositions,” says Ordyński.

Kamil Dąbrowa was the director of the First Polish Radio Program in 2011-2016. It was he who decided that the anthems of Poland and the European Union would be played alternately in Channel One. A week later he lost his job when the so-called a small amendment to the media law, and a new management board appeared at Polish Radio. The journalist filed a lawsuit in court, which decided in 2022 that Dąborowa’s dismissal was unlawful.

Kamil Dąbrowa in an interview with Wirtualne Media points out that he has not yet received any official or unofficial offers to take over the presidency of Polish Radio. “If there is such a proposal, I will consider it then. For now, however, I am focusing on my current duties,” he declares.
