Jakub ¯ulczyk assessed the work of Blanka Lipiñski. He didn’t mince his words. “For me it was strange”

Jakub ¯ulczyk has once again proven that he is not afraid to say what he really thinks. In the podcast by Kuba Wojewódzki and Piotr Kędzierski, he harshly assessed the domestic show business and commented in unrefined words on the work of his colleague, Blanka Lipiñska.

Currently, he is one of the most widely read Polish writers, but this is not his only activity, he is also a screenwriter. Some time ago, the series “Warszawianka”, for which he wrote the script, became a hit, and soon the film adaptation of his latest bestseller, “Feedback”, will appear. Despite his huge successes, he has no intention of slowing down. On October 16, 2023, the continuation of his greatest hit, “Blinded by the Lights”, appeared on the publishing market.

Żulczyk bluntly assessed Blanka Lipińska’s success. What does he think about her book “365 Days”?

As part of the promotion of the book “Once Upon a Time in Warsaw”, Jakub ¯ulczyk appeared on the podcast. In the interview, he admitted that having such an intense creative period, he finds it difficult to find time to read, but he does not give up on it completely. He admitted that he is reluctant to reach for those titles that are currently breaking popularity records. The hosts of the program asked him to evaluate the work of his colleague, who shook the publishing market by publishing the erotic book “365 days”. The book quickly became a bestseller, receiving not only a sequel, but also a film adaptation.

Żulczyk, however, does not share the readers’ enthusiasm and expressed his opinion without mincing words. – I’m talking about good things. I have nothing against Blania, but I see a big problem there. I was at the premiere of the film, the books were read by my partner, who is a professional film critic and is very conscientious about it. The main problem there is that she talks about “rape fantasies” and for me it was strange – he admitted honestly. He added, however, that although he does not read this type of literature himself, he believes that reading is really important and that it is better to read anything than not to do it at all. – This is a bit sour. It’s better to read Blanka Lipińska’s book than not reading at all, he argued.

The author of “Blinded by the Lights” told an anecdote involving Lipińska. Her attitude left him stunned

But that’s not the end. Żulczyk does not hide the fact that he has no particular sympathy for Lipińska. To explain the reason, he recalled one of the situations involving her, which clearly made him think and is also a perfect example of how, in his opinion, the world of show business is corrupt. – I felt a certain sympathy for her when she received the Nobel Prize. There was euphoria on social media and everyone congratulated her. At some point I decided that someone should stop this merry-go-round. I go to Blanka Lipińska’s Instagram and she recorded a hundred stories, he recalled. However, it quickly turned out that at such a solemn moment, her goal was not to publicly congratulate the Nobel Prize winner, but to promote the service that was provided to her. – At one point she shows her eyebrows and then it dawned on me that she was advertising for some girl – he recalled bitterly.
