Joanna Opozda reacted to the media storm surrounding the accusation of illegal promotion of alcoholic beverages on social media. The actress advertised sparkling wine, even though such an offense carries a high penalty. Opozda’s statement reads, among other things, about the “unreliability” of the marketing agency that recommended the influencer to cooperate with the brand.

Information about the indictment against 12 actresses and influencers promoting alcoholic beverages on social media reached the media last weekend. This group was to include, among others, her former partner.

Joanna Opozda explains why she promotes alcohol on social media

The spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, Prosecutor Szymon Banna, confirmed that the office had actually received a notification about such a practice: These people were accused of commissioning and advertising alcohol in the form of wine and other alcoholic beverages, contrary to the Act on upbringing in sobriety and counteracting alcoholism. According to the documentation obtained during the investigation conducted by the prosecutor’s office, the advertising of alcoholic beverages was to be carried out via Instagram, with the participation of recognizable people, he said.

commented on the reports about the accusation, explaining that she did not know that this form of promoting alcohol products was illegal. She blamed the marketing agency she had been working with for this incident. According to the actress, the employees of the mentioned agency assured her that there was a way to circumvent the regulations on the promotion of alcoholic beverages.

“First of all, I would like to officially apologize to everyone who felt offended by the post, i.e. the advertising of sparkling wine, on my social media… the agency turned out to be unreliable and misled me… The agency assured me many times that if I gave the age goal and appropriate hashtags, there is no question of breaking any law or regulations. Additionally, she provided me with documents from her lawyers that were to confirm the legality of all these activities. If I had known otherwise, I would not have decided to do such promotion,” explained Joanna Opozda.
