The iron stains your clothes and you are already planning to buy a new one? All you need is one product from the kitchen and 5 minutes of work

I guess everyone has had at least one experience where the iron got their clothes dirty while ironing. This sight makes many people gnash their teeth, to say the least. In the end, all the work was in vain. We are already angrily thinking about a new iron. It turns out that it was completely unnecessary. One product from the kitchen is enough.

An iron leaking dirty water is a real nightmare. We try to combat this in many ways – most often by repeatedly pressing the steam button to get as much of the dirty liquid out as possible. However, it usually doesn’t work the way we want it to. Yes, you have to work a little hard to use such an iron, but it’s really neither particularly labor-intensive nor does it take a lot of time.

A several-year-old iron almost like new

The main difficulty in cleaning the iron is the fact that its surface consists of many holes through which water vapor passes. For this purpose, it is best to use distilled water, which is purified of all minerals, so it does not accumulate on the channels. However, even when we use it, it is difficult to make a several-year-old iron as clean as a new one. Water deposits and ironing accidents in the form of burnt materials make the opening of the channels dirty. As a result, we are exposed to stains appearing on our clothes when we iron them.

However, before we throw the iron into the e-waste and go to the store to buy another one, it is worth cleaning it. Although the tubules do not facilitate this process, they can be taken care of. For this purpose, we will need a product that can be found in virtually every kitchen. And even if not, we can buy it in any grocery store for literally a few zlotys.

Take it from the kitchen and pour it into the iron

To clean the channels of the iron, simply pour a 1:2 mixture of water and vinegar into the water chamber. Then we turn on the device at the lowest temperature with the steam option and iron a towel or cloth that may get dirty. All residue and burns will remain on the material, and the iron will be as good as new. In case of more stubborn dirt, you can use a cotton bud soaked in the vinegar mixture and toothpicks or skewers. When cleaning the iron, it is worth opening a window. The escaping vinegar does not have the nicest smell, so it is a good idea to do it in a well-ventilated place.
