When they met, she was an extra on the set. They got married, and later her husband talked her into going to film school.

Stanisław Jędryka was born in 1933. The outstanding director has made over 30 films, including “House Without Windows” and “Amnesty”. While working on the film “A Place on Earth”, an extra appeared on the set and caught the director’s attention. Shortly thereafter, the couple got married.

Joanna Jędryka was born in Ukraine in 1940. When she met Stanisław, she was a dental technician, but she dreamed of being a dental technician, so she volunteered as an extra in the film. Stanisław liked the young girl so much that he lied to her to get her phone number. — I suggested exchanging phone numbers under the pretext that there would be scenes with extras in which she could appear. She agreed. And without waiting for these scenes, because I knew there would be no more scenes involving extras, I called her and invited her for coffee – in one of the interviews. In 1960, they got married, and Joanna, at her husband’s encouragement, started classes at the Łódź film school. Unfortunately, 5 years after the wedding, Stanisław left his wife.

The former spouses remained on good terms. When Stanisław was hospitalized, Joanna called for support

he openly said that the fault for the breakdown of the marriage lay with him. He left his wife for another woman, but he regretted his decision for the rest of his life. Despite the breakup, the couple maintained good relations, and over time Stanisław asked his ex-wife for a second chance, but she refused. When, during his stay in New York, the director was hospitalized with a heart attack. Joanna called him to ask if he could afford the treatment, because if not, she was ready to sell the car to help him financially. Stanisław died in 2019.
