Well, in Guayaquil there are some spaces that present themselves as an alternative to the commercial offer of large chains in the country, and in most cases access to it is free.

The MZ14 room It is emerging as the newest space in the city. It officially opened its doors in 2021 with a screening of a selection of Ecuadorian films, as part of EDOC.

Plaza claims that they plan to show more than 50 films this year alone, and more than 150 in two years of existence.

On the fifth floor of the House of Culture, the heart of Guayas, the magic of cinematography takes center stage through its traditional Cinematheque, with which many have certainly grown up. This space came to life again last year thanks to the presenter and audiovisual producer Federico Koelle. “It was necessary to save this space, to reactivate the public.”

The key place to enjoy a different movie is MAAC Cine (Malecón and Loja), where almost every week people can find something to see.
