Earex and Rupert Till, professor of music at the University of Huddersfield, conducted a study on a sample of 2,000 participants. They gave the subjects a survey in which they had to indicate a song that aroused melancholy and sadness in them. This is how the list of the 30 saddest people in the world was created.
The researchers decided. The saddest song of all time is a 90s ballad.
The research results clearly indicated that the saddest one is the ballad by REM entitled “Everybody Hurts”. The song was released in 1992 and comes from the album “Automatic for the People”.
The song is an appeal to people who plan to commit suicide. The lyrics were partially written by drummer Bill Berry. He tried to understand people thinking about leaving this world. In the words of the song we will find comfort for those who have lost hope and do not want to live.
