Ewa Kasprzyk about “Chłopy”. She mentioned a terrible scene
On the occasion of the release of “Peasants” in Polish cinemas, Ewa Kasprzyk, who played Dominikova in the film, gave an interview to Wirtualna Polska. She admitted that the role was very important to her because of how strong and determined the woman she played was. Privately, however, the actress does not agree with Dominikova’s cold calculations. “It’s better to experience love than to have these six morgas,” Kasprzyk emphasizes.
When asked if the actress saw references to our current times in the film, she nodded. “Today, women who do not live according to the traditional pattern may not be transported away in wheelbarrows like Jagna, but they are judged extremely harshly in society by hypocrites, especially by hypocrites who would love to experience something unusual or crazy themselves,” says Kasprzyk. The actress emphasizes that it is difficult for people to accept different sensitivities and approaches to life.
“I still get chills”
The film’s Dominikowa also notes which scenes in the film touched her the most. “The scene after the wedding, when Jagna and Boryna are in bed, is incredibly scary… Carnality in such a relationship is something repulsive,” says Ewa Kasprzyk. “What a relief that the camera is floating away!” – he adds.
In addition, the actress mentions another fragment of the film. “I still get goosebumps when I think about the scene where Antek Hank’s wife gets food for the children from Boryna and he tells her to give it all back. An incredibly powerful moment. Antek is so proud that in the conflict with his father over Jagna, he doesn’t care about his starving children,” Kasprzyk recalls the scene.
