Polsat removed cabarets from the network, and previously censored them. A few days before the elections

Cabaret artists at Polsat are crazy, especially in the hot pre-election period. However, the broadcaster made a sudden decision – it removed all the cabaret artists’ sketches from recent months, and also censored one of the last performances of “Young and Moral” and did not allow it to be broadcast. The artists are said to be “angry and resentful”, but Polsat has its own explanation.

Polish cabarets enjoy unflagging popularity among television viewers. Since the so-called a good change, Polsat stations – the main station and TV4 – are the leaders in showing cabarets. Cabaret performers’ performances are often uncompromising, and recently they have increasingly often commented on political life in a blunt way. The ruling camp takes the brunt of it the most, which causes a lot of comments to appear under the recordings.

A few days before the elections, Polsat removed fragments and episodes of “Cabaret Live” from the network

Most viewers like this formula of sketches, but there are also voices that accuse the creators of being very vulgar. A few days ago, Robert Korólczyk, who is normally a member of the Young Gentlemen’s Cabaret and, together with the Moralny Niepokoju Kabaret on Polsat, creates the show “Młodzi i moralni”, decided to comment on these opinions in an interview.

Some time ago we were accused of being vulgar. No – politics and politicians’ behavior are vulgar. How they relate to citizens who think differently, live differently, dress differently, or to women. We were not the first to show the “f..k” sign to citizens, it was us who showed it in the Sejm – explained Korólczyk.

Now, however, a much greater controversy has been caused by the decision of Polsat, which on Tuesday removed from all its social media channels and streaming platform the performances of the artists of the “Kabaret na” program, which viewers can watch every Sunday on TV.

As reported by Plejada, the portal’s editorial staff managed to determine that “the decision came from above” and the employees were instructed to remove the cabaret artists’ performances from the last six months from the Internet. The decision-makers hoped that it would be possible to do it stealthily and that the case would not be covered by the media.

It turned out that cabarets have a huge influence on politics. On Tuesday night, almost all seasons of ‘Cabaret Live’ were removed from Polsat platforms. The Facebook channel of ‘Kabaret Live’ was cleared until May – says a Polsat employee in an interview with Plejada.

Suddenly, it was decided to remove the “anti-PiS” skit from the broadcast

However, the case had its origins a little earlier. Apparently the first signs of censorship appeared during the recordings of last week’s episode of “Cabaret Live. Young and Moral”. One of the prepared sketches was not allowed to be broadcast.

This sketch, like the others, was anti-PiS. Censorship caught up with them. They are furious – reveals a person from the production of “Cabaret Live”.

Cabaret artists are aware of everything and confirmed these reports in an interview with the website. – We are aware that all materials about “Young and Moral” have been downloaded from Facebook, YouTube and the Polsat platform. We don’t know what the reason for the decision is. Our third skit, which was recorded on Thursday’s recording, was also not played – say the artists from the Young Gentlemen Cabaret.

Moreover, it is puzzling that the sketch that was not finally broadcast was performed by the cabaret artists without any changes during the earlier rehearsal. At that time, none of the responsible persons raised any objections to its substantive content to the group members.

Everything changed at the last minute. It was obvious that gentlemen [Robert Górski i Robert Korólczyk – przyp. red.] they are resentful. Polsat once again showed how much respect it has for artists. If you treat artists who earn money for the station this way, it’s either very political or they don’t care at all – said a man working on ‘Cabaret Live’.

Polsat has its own opinion on cabarets. They want to be politically impartial (during the campaign)

Plejada also contacted Polsat. The station’s representative stated that all the materials were removed because Polsat bosses do not want their programs to be used in the current election campaign.

Our decision is related to the fact that we do not want our programs to be used by any entity of political dispute in the current election campaign. Our programs were, and should not be, used in the ongoing campaign – said Tomasz Matwiejczuk, director of corporate communications, Polsat spokesman.

It also turns out that “Cabaret Live” will not be broadcast next Sunday because there are parliamentary elections that day, which means election silence. Initially, Polsat supposedly wanted to broadcast a special program with the best sketches from previous seasons, which were to be commented on by Robert Górski and Robert Korólczyk, but this will not happen. Election night will be shown on Polsat on Sunday evening.
