The Eurovision star is fighting cancer. “I’m bruised and hurt”

Danny Estrin from the Australian band Voyager, which took over the Eurovision stage in Liverpool in May this year, is suffering from cancer. All concerts have been canceled until autumn 2024, and Danny is reporting on his condition on social media.

The Voyager team, led by Daniel Estrin, created a sensation during this year’s edition. The Australians were unrivaled during the semi-finals, and in the Grand Final they took a high ninth place. After their performance in the UK, they gained so much momentum that they announced a European tour. However, all plans were thwarted by Danny’s illness.

In mid-September, the band issued a statement informing about the singer’s illness and the need to immediately start treatment. “For me, it was news that turned my life upside down. I was diagnosed with cancer, which requires immediate action. I am very sorry that I will not be able to perform on the upcoming European tour, especially after such a wonderful reception at Eurovision. Doctors ordered take this seriously and put my health first before I can return to the stage. It was a very difficult decision for me, but I think everyone will understand it,” wrote Danny Estrin in a statement.

He shares the latest information about his health via private social media. The musician has already undergone one major surgery and is waiting for further treatments.

I am battered and wounded, but more optimistic than ever – thanks to modern medicine, my family, friends and YOU. Thanks to all the messages I get from you, the Voyager songs you perform for me, the flowers, the food, the snacks, the tattoos! I feel as if the whole world reached out to me to give me energy – I am now channeling it towards recovery and the next fight – he wrote on Instagram.

The Perth musicians hope that the tour will start next year, as soon as Danny’s difficult treatment ends. The musicians were to perform for almost the entire month of October in 19 cities in Europe. The tour also included a performance in Warsaw.
