He saw her in “Bigger Than Life at Stake”. After a month of knowing each other, he proposed. “She stood out for something”

Teresa Marczewska and Wojciech Marczewski have been a good duo for almost 50 years, both in their private and professional lives. When he first saw her in an episode of the series “The stakes are greater than life”, it was clear that she would become his main muse.

Teresa Marczewska was born on January 6, 1948 in Jarosław. In 1969, she graduated from the Academy of Theater Arts. Stanisław Wyspiański in Krakow. She made her film debut as Teresa Kamińska in the film “The Sun Rises Once a Day” directed by Henryk Kluba. Fans of Hans Kloss’s fate might remember her from the dramatic role of Simone in the episode “Akcja: “Oak Leaf” in the series “Higher than life at stake”.

Wojciech Marczewski proposed to Teresa Marczewska “somewhere after a month of dating”

Teresa Marczewska met her future husband, Wojciech Marczewski, for the first time while filming the series “The stakes are greater than life” directed by Kuba Morgenstern, when he was preparing to shoot the film “Travelers like others”. The man immediately noticed the young actress, who, in his opinion, stood out among the others. Marczewski started trying to become an actress. He decided to go to Krakow, where Marczewska was studying and just finishing acting school. It was then, during the meeting, that he offered her the role of a French woman in his production. Wojciech Marczewski, with Damian Jankowski in the book “The World Speeds Up, I Slow Down” reported:

There was something special about Teresa. I thought I’d give her the role of the French girl who appears briefly at the end. I went to Krakow, where she was finishing acting school and getting her diploma. We met and I suggested she play for me. According to Teresa, at the time it seemed to her like a joke from her colleagues that the director came to talk to her.

A relationship quickly developed between the couple, which initially turned into friendship, and then into deeper feelings. After only a month of dating Teresa, the director decided to kneel in front of her and ask for her hand in marriage. For Marczewski, this decision was the best in his life.

We started working together, becoming friends and feeling something more towards each other. About a month into our relationship, I proposed. […] It was sometime in June, we got married in September. The best decision of my life, definitely! I don’t know if it’s for Teresa, because she gave up many things for me.

Teresa Marczewska became the main star of Wojciech Marczewski’s films

Teresa Marczewska appeared in many of her husband’s films. She appeared in such productions as: “Zmory”, “Dreszcze” and “Escape from the Freedom Cinema”. Despite the relationship both in life and professionally, the couple’s cooperation was not always perfect, as the actress herself mentions in an interview with Bożena Janicka, published in “Film”, as quoted by .

It’s never easy for me. To act in a film as the director’s wife is a ghastly task. (…) The person closest to you gets hurt the most because it is known that they will forgive most easily. All storms focus on me, and the director never has time for me. He takes others aside, explains something, and all I hear is: ‘Focus and play’! After the last take I said: ‘Never again, I’d rather cook for you.’ But when I got over all the humiliation, I thought to myself: ‘Well, I would play again.’ I’ll just never tell him that. (…) Home and family are more important to me. I am sure that my husband would also choose private life if he had to choose.

Despite good and bad moments during their marriage, Teresa and Wojciech Marczewski have been inseparable for almost 50 years. As the director assures, despite their long experience, the couple does not complain about boredom.
