“Shakes”, dir. Ron Underwood (1990)
What lurks beneath the surface of the earth? When Valentine McKee (Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) arrive in the town of Perfection, Nevada, they have no idea what will soon happen in their lives. The great wilderness only seems to be a safe place. Shortly after moving to a new place, strange things start happening in the area. It turns out that the peace of the town was disturbed by giant bugs hiding underground. The men decide to stop dangerous mutants.
“Candyman”, dir. Bernard Rose (1992)
How much truth is there in the urban legend? Can ghost stories be true? Contemporary folklore becomes the subject of the master’s thesis of an ambitious student from Chicago, Helen Lyle (played by Virginia Madsen). The heroine conducts short interviews with students, following the trail of superstitions and urban legends. However, when she hears the story about Candyman, the ghost of a man with a hook instead of a hand, she decides to find out more about him. The scarecrow is said to haunt an apartment building located in a dangerous neighborhood. Helen decides to go to this place to see how much truth there is in the city’s stories. The heroine is convinced that Candyman is a completely made-up character. However, it soon turns out that the bogeyman really exists. Crimes occur in the area, and Helen becomes a suspect.
“Brain Necrosis”, dir. dir. Peter Jackson (1992)
Another suggestion for a scary one? “Brain Necrosis” will work perfectly here. On Skull Island, a new species is created – the monkey-rat. However, these animals turn out to be extremely dangerous, and their bites lead to brain necrosis. When one such creature is captured by people taking part in a scientific expedition, no one expects what danger it may entail. A monkey is placed in a zoo, where an accident occurs. A woman following her son during his meeting with his beloved is bitten by a dangerous animal. Soon he suffers brain necrosis and dies. However, the woman comes to life as a mindless creature that enjoys human flesh.
“Night of the Living Dead”, dir. Tom Savini (1990)
Can’t get enough of zombies? Find out what can happen during a visit to a family grave. When Barbara (Patricia Tallman) and Johnnie (Bill Moseley) go to the cemetery, they have no idea that they will soon have to fight for their lives. Due to an unusual event, the dead begin to rise from their graves and follow the trail of people. Barbara manages to escape to a house in the middle of nowhere, where a group of people are hiding. Will the heroes manage to free themselves from the nightmare they find themselves in?
