Dolls and monsters don’t scare anyone anymore. A murderous swimming pool horror movie is coming

A film about… a haunted swimming pool will soon be released in cinemas. Yes, you didn’t expect it. This idea was implemented by the creators of “The Nun” and “M3GAN”, and although it sounds a bit ironic, it cannot be denied that it is original. What can we expect from the new horror film? Will murderous dolls and bloodthirsty sharks become a thing of the past?

The trailer for “Night Swim” has been released online. It may not sound scary, but the action will take place in a home garden. The main characters, as in many other productions of this type, will buy a house in the suburbs, but it is not the building that will be the source of demonic evil, but the swimming pool located right behind it.

What will “Night Swim” be about?

As we can expect, the family will be happy to hear about the backyard. They will carefully clean the neglected tank and fill it with water again. However, what will make the greatest impression on viewers will happen only later. While taking an evening bath, the main character Eve will be attacked by a sinister force that will pull her deeper into the pool.

Does this make sense?

The idea is really interesting, considering that we have already had a series of horror films about the Annabelle doll, films about sharks devouring beachgoers, and a murderer killing victims using a chainsaw. Still, I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before. Because although this time viewers will be frightened by the mysterious power hiding under the water, the horror scheme reminds me of the frequently discussed haunted house theme. A family in crisis moves into a house that seems to be the perfect environment for them. Time passes and they lead a peaceful life until the day a mysterious power reveals its intentions towards the household members. Sounds familiar? Yet how!

I’m not suggesting that repeating previously proven patterns is a bad thing, but when I first heard about the film’s theme, I secretly hoped that its action would take place, for example, in an abandoned swimming pool or in an amusement park.

For now, it is not known what position “Night Swim” will gain in the world of horror cinema. The world premiere of the film is scheduled for January 5, 2024. The horror film is executive produced by Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Ryan Turek.
