Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist” will be released on screen after 35 years. As the writer says: life can be sparse

Paulo Coelho’s quotes are probably classics of the genre. There was a time when they appeared practically in every second or third post on social media. Users shared the writer’s golden thoughts, added them as descriptions to photos or sent them to each other. Quotes with a deep message were supposed to convey life wisdom, but more and more often they became the butt of jokes or simply the content of memes.

“Be like a flowing spring, not like a pond in which the same water always stands”, “Neither time nor wisdom changes a person – because only love is capable of changing a human being” – everyone interpreted the poet’s words in their own way and this is the case till this day. There are also inspiring quotes with a message for future generations in the novel “The Alchemist”, published by in 1988, more than 35 years ago.

The author used the allegory of the main character’s journey to the Egyptian pyramids. The plot is a metaphor for the life of the writer himself, who faces the difficulties he encounters along the way. Coelho wrote The Alchemist in record time, as it took him just two weeks to put his thoughts on paper. The book has been translated into many languages so that the author’s fans from even the most remote corners of the world can share his life advice and thoughts. Anyone who has ever read this publication will surely remember that “Everyone has the right to dream differently” and that “It is the possibility of dreams coming true that makes life so fascinating.”

There are so many quotes by Paulo Coelho that they are even divided into sections, e.g. “About love” or “About time”. In the second category we will find, among others, the following words: Life can be sparse: days, weeks, months, years pass and nothing happens. And then we open a door and suddenly an avalanche bursts through the gap. One moment we have nothing, and the next moment we have so much that it is difficult to cope.

“The Alchemist” will hit the screen

This thought perfectly fits the information that certainly sounds surprising both to fans of Paulo Coelho’s work, and probably to himself. He has been waiting for the film adaptation of “The Alchemist” for over 35 years. According to “Variety”, the Brazilian’s novel will finally be released on the screen, although no specific release date has been announced yet. It is known, however, that the script will be written by Jack Thorne, the playwright responsible for the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and the Netflix series “Enola Holmes”.
