Is Netflix preparing subscription increases? It’s all because of the actors’ strikes

The Wall Street Journal reported that after the end of the famous Hollywood strike, Netflix is ​​considering raising subscription prices. Which countries would the increase cover? And will Poles pay more?

The Hollywood strike included screenwriters and actors who opposed the use of artificial intelligence in films and series. After 146 days, the protesters reached an agreement, but it involves raises for people working in productions. As a result, streaming platforms will have to increase prices. The Wall Street Journal reports that it is considering increasing subscription fees.

Increases on Netflix. Will we pay more in Poland?

When the Wall Street Journal reported that Netflix was planning subscription increases, the company’s shares jumped by 3%. – The largest streaming service is to consider raising prices in several markets around the world – newspaper. Trade unionists have negotiated higher rates for screenwriters, so the streaming giant will be forced to pay them more and will soon raise subscription prices. The changes are to be introduced gradually and will initially cover the United States and Canada. Such action, however, would contradict the words of Spence Neumann, the platform’s CFO, who assured that there would be no price increases in the near future.

In Poland, Netflix offers three packages. The cheapest one costs PLN 29

Netflix has not yet commented on these rumors and has not confirmed whether it is considering raising subscription prices at all. It is also unknown whether the changes will apply to Europe, including Poland. The last increase introduced in the USA took place in March 2022. Today, three packages are offered in Poland – basic for PLN 29, standard for PLN 43 and premium for PLN 60.
