At the beginning of September, the editorial team revealed that Michał Adamczyk had beaten a woman who was his lover in the past, and later answered for it in court. Since then, the journalist has retreated into the background and does not appear on Telewizja Polska. There are many indications that it was a forced leave in connection with this publication. TVP management did not comment on this matter.
The article even included fragments of the testimony of Adamczyk’s lover: “He sat on my chest and started spitting on me. He wrapped strands of my hair around his fingers and pulled them out one by one.” The man remained silent for most of the hours after the article was published, and later he issued an official statement on the right-wing website wPolityce.pl in which he denied all reports and announced legal action.

“In connection with the publication of the Onet portal about me, I declare that the acts described in the article did not take place. Working as the director of TAI, I am exposed to attacks, but in this case Onet brutally enters my private sphere and attacks my loved ones. I have taken “I have already taken legal action against the author of the text and the Onet portal,” he announced. He announced that he would sue the publisher of the portal and accuse the author of the article of defamation.
At the end, information appeared in the media that Michał Adamczyk decided to extend his leave. Now it is reported that the director of TAI and the host of “Wiadomości” will definitely not return to work before the elections, i.e. until October 15 inclusive.
Michał Adamczyk has been the director of the Television Information Agency since April 2023. The changes were related to Mateusz Matyszkowicz taking over at TVP last fall. Despite being the head of TAI, Adamczyk was still one of the hosts of “Wiadomości” TVP1 and the “Strefa starcia” program on TVP Info.
