What does the circle of mushrooms mean? It was once associated with magic

It was once believed that the circles created by mushrooms were associated with witchcraft. This is where the name “devil’s circle” comes from. However, it turns out that it has nothing to do with magic. Circles are formed because the mycelium under the lawn grows in a circular manner and gradually becomes larger. It can continue to grow for many years until it encounters an obstacle, such as trees or buildings. Mushrooms most often grow on neglected lawns, where there are grass remains or pieces of branches.

How to get rid of “devil circles”? Simple tricks don’t always bring results

If you want to avoid the appearance of fungi on your lawn, first of all, clean the grass of plant remains so that they do not start to rot and decompose. If mushrooms have already appeared, take care of your lawn and thoroughly remove grass remnants after each mowing. Rake up old, loose blades. Also scarify and aerate the lawn, which will aerate and loosen the soil. You can also remove existing fungi with nitrogen fertilizers. If all other methods fail and you want to get rid of fungi at all costs, there is nothing left to do but remove all the grass and a 30 cm layer of soil, and then re-establish the lawn.
