Viki Gabor had serious health problems. “I have tears in my eyes”

Viki Gabor started her stage career at a very young age. The Junior Eurovision winner is now 16 years old. As the singer’s parents recall, she faced serious health problems in her childhood.

Last weekend, she sang on one of the largest Polish stages at the PGE National Stadium during the “Danced National” concert. Today, performing in front of an audience of several dozen thousand people is a daily routine for the 16-year-old.

When Viki Gabor won Junior Eurovision, her career took off. The teenager even had her own documentary about herself, shot by TVP. It was there that the singer’s relatives confessed that she had received a difficult diagnosis as a child.

Viki Gabor had serious health problems

In one of the first episodes of the production of “Viki Gabor: Moje Świat” on the TVP VOD platform, the singer and her loved ones talked about her childhood and the path to such fame in Poland that only Roksana Węgiel can boast of.

In the very early years of her life, when Viki was still living with her parents in Hamburg, she was seen by a doctor. It was suspected that she might be deaf – she did not respond to auditory stimuli and did not seem to perceive them at all. “When Viki was born, it turned out that she would not be able to hear – this was the diagnosis we received from doctors in Hamburg,” her mother said.

I had tears in my eyes when my mother told me that she had received a leaflet on how to act with a child who has this diagnosis, said one of Gabor’s managers.

Fortunately, the diagnosis was not fully accurate. The sentence of life without the sense of hearing was prevented – doctors in Poland performed specialized procedures, and Viki Gabor spent her early childhood in almost sterile conditions. The slightest infections led to ear infections, which were not only very painful, but also dangerous.

I was supposed to be deaf. I didn’t know that it would turn out like this, that I would be able to sing and create music – said Viki in the TVP documentary.

Her problems were not talked about even during her performance in “The Voice Kids” and during preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Her family did not want to discuss this topic.

It was like that for us. I never wanted Viki to exist because of any story from her life, only because of her talent, music and singing, said the mother of a 16-year-old.
