Pauline presented in Puerto Santa Ana the jewel that will crown the winner of the most important beauty contest in the Main Port. Behind this is the designer Catalina Salcedowho has stood out for more than fifteen years in national and international reigns in the art and technique of constructing artistic objects with precious metals.

The manufacturer says the organization contacted her two months ago and sent several designs until they finally settled on one. “It is inspired by the fires that left the city completely destroyed and led to the revival of the Guayaquileño. “The tenacity, strength and determination of the people of Guayaquil to move forward and recover meant a revival of Guayaquil. From the ashes they rose and that is what I wanted to represent,” Salcedo added.

Carla Perugachi, one of the aspiring queens of Guayaquil, stated that she really wanted to see the crown. For his part, Sara Paez, another participant, stated that she was excited to try on herself and get to know her because for her “being part of this story is a dignity that transcends over time.” The candidate Genesis Mora He believes that the piece represents all the beauty of the city, except that it is worn by a woman. “I feel like every Guayaquileño will identify with this symbol, both men and women,” he said.

Tahiz Panuswho runs the competition, says Salcedo was chosen as the designer because of her experience and years of career development in the field of goldsmithing.

“We wanted to give it a 100% Guayaquil meaning, last year we had a foreign designer, so in 2023 we will continue to create a crown made by a local talent, and she accepted it from the first moment. I think it is an honor for any professional to be part of the Reina de Guayaquil.”

She adds that the artist created the design completely, based on some fixed features that “had to be on the crown anyway”, such as the colors, and that the meaning is linked to the city.
