He provided the voice of Mickey Mouse and played in Hoffman’s cult “The Quack”. He died at the peak of his career

Although theater was his whole life, he was also great on screen and in dubbing. Piotr Grabowski provided the voice of Mickey Mouse from Disney cartoons, and he is remembered by viewers for his role as the jealous Zenek in the cult “Quack” by Jerzy Hoffman. He died in the prime of his life in complete oblivion.

Piotr Grabowski was born on March 30, 1947 in Gdańsk. After completing compulsory education, he began studying at a theater school in Warsaw. In the meantime, together with his friends, he founded the student “Something”, in which he made his debut. He obtained his diploma in 1969 and began a fruitful but short cooperation with the Theater. Juliusz Osterwa in Lublin.

Theater was his greatest love, but he also tried his hand at film. He played his greatest role in “The Quack”.

In the following years, he was associated with many theaters in Poland, including: in Katowice and Rzeszów. In 1983, however, he returned to the capital and joined the cast of the Targówek Theater and the Polish Theater. He created many outstanding characters in the plays of Sienkiewicz, Bałucki, Shakespeare, Fredro, Wyspiański and Tolstoy.

Piotr Grabowski is one of those many thanks to whom theater continues to this day and thanks to whom it will continue to exist forever. (…) He was a man who always took his profession very seriously, and at the same time an actor who thought about the Theater with his heart

– about him actor Damian Damięcki in the ZASP Information Bulletin.

Although the theater was his favorite place and his greatest passion, from the mid-1960s he also tried to appear on the screen. He made his debut with a small role in the musical comedy “Strong Hit” by Jerzy Passendorfer in 1966. However, the real breakthrough in his career came only in 1981, when Jerzy Hoffman cast him as the innkeeper’s son Zenek in the film adaptation of the now cult film by Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz.

His sudden death ended his career. He passed away in complete oblivion

In total, Piotr Grabowski played in over a hundred productions, both on the small and big screen. The most popular ones include: “Directors”, “Far from the road”, and “Career of Nikodem Dyzma”. However, these were mainly episodes of apparatchiks and villains. There is no doubt that he was fully involved in every project, even the smallest one. Once, while working on the set of Jacek Bromski’s “Kill Me, Cop”, he was accidentally shot in the face by Bogusław Linda. He never lost his sense of humor then.

An image of misery and despair, swollen beyond belief. But dad was in a good mood. He said, you know, we changed the name of the movie – now it’s called ‘Kill Me, Linda!’

– “Chochlik Kulturalny” – memories of his daughter. He received his first major role in a television series, in which he played the role of Zygmunt Kuźniak. He was also successful in dubbing. Many may recognize his voice thanks to the character of Mickey Mouse from the iconic Disney cartoon. Perhaps he would have created many more outstanding creations if not for his sudden and premature death. Piotr Grabowski died on January 1, 1998, at the age of just 51. He was buried at Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw.
