British media report the death of the Irish actor Michael Gambon and they collect the statement offered by his family:
“We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside after a pneumonia attack. Michael was 82 years old. We ask that our privacy be respected at this painful time and we appreciate the messages of support and love from him.”
Award-winning actor in the world of theater, Gambon performed classic works of William Shakespeare and also contemporary Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter.
