Zoleka Mandelaactivist, writer and granddaughter of Nelson Mandeladied this Monday at the age of 43 from cancer in different parts of his body, his family announced today.
“Zoleka passed away on the afternoon of Monday, September 25, surrounded by friends and family,” the Mandela family said in a statement released this Tuesday on the Instagram social network.
The activist had been admitted to the hospital last Monday the 18th to “continue treatment for metastatic cancer in the hip, liver, lungs, pelvis, brain, and spinal cord“.
The statement said recent scans had revealed a “significant disease progressionincluding pulmonary fibrosis and various emboli (blood clots).”
