Paweł Kukiz is another politician who commented on the film “The Green Border”. In an interview with the Polish Press Agency quoted by the WP portal, he noted that “as a Pole, he is outraged by the portrayal of Poles as backward people who torment ‘intellectuals’.”
Paweł Kukiz reviewed the film “The Green Border” by Agnieszka Holland
Agnieszka Holland’s production debuted during the 80th Venice International Film Festival and received a special award from the jury. In interviews, the director emphasizes that she wanted to show the humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border from many perspectives.
The creator admits that the film will feature sadistic scenes, but the plot is not one-dimensional. One of the characters is a border guard played by Tomasz Włosok. This is the epitome of the moral dilemmas that soldiers face. In both Polish and foreign reviews we read that the film judges politicians and the European Union most harshly in this situation – not individual individuals.
“She was just shaped that way.”
However, in an interview, Kukiz compared Holland’s film to actions typical of “methods of the security services, disinformation and manipulation.” He also noted that he was not surprised by this.
“And I am not surprised that many faces of TVN come from the families of officers of the communist security service. And the same is true of Mrs. Agnieszka Holland,” the politician concluded. Moreover, Kukiz blamed the director’s “artistic visions” on her “family home”.
“A person has most of their behavior, emotions and perception of the world at home. Of course, there are exceptions, but Mrs. Holland is certainly not such an exception. She was simply shaped that way, that’s how she was brought up. One person is raised by the family to be a patriot, the other to be a cosmopolitan, for whom statehood in any form is a symptom of totalitarianism and violence,” he added.
