“It’s the best thing I ever did”: Jorge Ulloa, creator of Enchufe TV, on his series ‘P*t@s social networks’, soon to premiere on Amazon Prime

The series follows the lives of two digital celebrities (i.e influencers) who are on opposite sides: the first, Amanda, is struggling to stay relevant, after a decade-long career making videos on YouTube and with no new opportunities; The other, younger and queen of TikTok, is already tired of the fact that her transcendence is only superficial and, unlike the previous one, does not want to remain current, but prefers to retire. To top it all off, the two girls are daughters of the same father and with that there is another set of conflicts to consider. In the first episode, the story showed that there was a lot of fabric to be cut, which left the attendees “stinged” and wanting to “marathon” it during a sit-down.

This recent success of ‘the boys from Enchufe TV’ follows the formula that catapulted them to stardom: laughing at the anecdotes and experiences of the thirty-something generation, which is already seeing the fourth decade just around the corner.

“This comes from a personal experience, from the crisis we have had. We were born on social networks with a TV plug and somehow, although we have had a peak, there have also been declines. Suddenly there is a moment when you turn thirty, I am no longer the same as before, the young man I was. There are younger influencers. We are Amanda (the main character), it is an analogy of what we experienced,” Ulloa explained after the broadcast.

“We are neither for nor against influencers,” Valencia clarifies to be sure. “We have been influencers ourselves, social networks are a double-edged sword. We know they can be used for incredible things, but they can also destroy someone’s life if not used properly. That’s what the series is talking about, about the two sides and the different angles that social networks have in people’s lives.”
