On Wednesday, September 20, the ceremonial premiere of Agnieszka Holland’s film “The Green Border” took place in Warsaw. The film will be released in Polish cinemas next Friday, and in the meantime there were many politicians at the premiere.

“” will hit cinemas in Poland next Friday. Only a few people have seen the film at screenings and competitions, but only now has its formal premiere taken place. In Warsaw, the production, which has been widely talked about for a long time, was watched not only by its creators, but also by people associated with charity activities, former and current politicians. Naturally, the government side was missing.

Naturally, she came to the film’s premiere at one of Warsaw’s cinemas with her crew. Stars associated with the production appeared – Maja Ostaszewska, Tomasz Włosok, Malwina Buss, Maciej Stuhr, Piotr Stramowski, Jalal Altawil, Magdalena Popławska. There were also people associated with the world of film who wanted to show support for the director criticized by the government.

Apart from them, the premiere featured, among others: former Ombudsman Adam Bodnar and people associated with politics: Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, MP Katarzyna Piekarska and MP Paweł Kowal. Agnieszka Holland was supported by Jurek Owsiak, Janina Ochojska, Juliusz Machulski, Paweł Pawlikowski, Maciej Zień and many others – including representatives of the Granica Group, who actively help people trapped on the Polish-Belarusian border.

It was easy to notice that those most critical of the production – i.e. the government side – were not there.

“Green border” praised by the opposition, criticized by the government

The “green border” is widely criticized by the government. The government is responsible for how refugees are treated in the area of ​​the Polish-Belarusian border. Although they consistently answer that there are no irregularities, Polish courts have a different opinion and describe the practice of push-backs, shown in “The Green Border”, as “illegal”.

Agnieszka Holland’s film has already been strongly compared to “Nazi propaganda” (Zbigniew Ziobro), “The Green Border” was called “spitting on the Polish uniform” (Jacek Sasin and Joachim Brudziński), and Agnieszka Holland was called “Tusk’s hyena” (Przemysław Czarnek) . None of the politicians had the opportunity to see the film with their own eyes.
