He calls Sanah’s songs a profanation. The former TVP star was criticized by the artist’s fans: what a joke

Journalist Przemys³aw Szubartowicz criticized in harsh words the work of one of the most popular singers in Poland. According to him, Sanah desecrated Polish poetry. The artist’s fans defended the idol.

The aesthetics are very expressive and specific, which contributed to its huge success. Her combination of archaisms with new phrases has been praised by, among others, Dawid Podsiadło for years. However, the slightly infantile image and characteristic style do not appeal to everyone. Przemysław Szubartowicz recently commented on the artist’s achievements.

The journalist called Sanah’s work profane. He wrote that he didn’t understand what he was singing about

Szubartowicz is a Polish journalist who was a poet in his early youth. Then he published in “Przegląd Filozoficzny”, “Lampa i Iskra Bo¿ej”, “Pracownia”, “Dykcja”, and also worked in “Trybuna”. From 2008 to 2016 he was associated with Telewizja Polska. He hosted programs such as “Pryzmat”, “Hot Topic” and “Konfrontacje” on TVP Info.

The journalist decided to share with his followers on X (formerly Twitter) his opinion about the songs from the album “Sanah singing poezyje” by a famous artist. The 2022 album contains Zuzanna Grabowska’s own interpretations of works by famous poets.

“The singer Sanah profaned the song “Nothing twice” (a poem by W. Szymborska sung by Ł. Prus), as well as “Kissing” (a poem by M. Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska sung by E. Demarczyk). The artist does not understand what she is singing about. is an echo of a deeper problem of our times,” the journalist sums up the singer’s work. Sanah’s harsh criticism did not go down well not only with her fans, but also with other people in the music industry.

Sanah’s fans defended the idol. “Wow, what a piece of crap”

Krzysztof Grabowski from the punk band Dezerter defended the young artist. “There is only one piece of advice: sing better yourself and understand what you are singing about. Simple,” he wrote in a comment. Hundreds of comments regarding Szubartowicz’s criticism appeared under the post.

“Since it’s poetry, it has the right to its own interpretation,” notes one of the commenters. Others used harsher words. “Wow, what a joke. Each generation reinterprets culture in its own way”, “Or understands it in its own way, differently than a 60-year-old tetrian.” – Sanah’s fans thunder. The discussion also included a thread about the educational function of the artist’s work. Commentators point out that thanks to Sanah, the young generation learned about poetry they had not encountered much before. “Thanks to her, young people got to know and like Szymborska”, “thanks to this song, my daughter learned that such a poem exists”, “no one has interested young people in poetry as much as Sanah. Your buffoonery is visible from space” – we read under the post.
