IFCI launches promotion line that seeks to benefit 128 artistic projects

The launching of the call, whose amount is $ 2,447,000, was held this morning in the Lobby of the MAAC.

This morning the Institute for the Promotion of Creativity and Innovation (IFCI) launched the second call 2021 for the promotion lines that are intended to benefit 128 projects in the area of ​​music, literature, plastic, audiovisual and performing arts.

The launch of the call, whose amount is $ 2′447,000, was held in the lobby of the MAAC with the intervention of Lorena Robalino, IFCI Director, and Karina Fernandez, general technical coordinator; who gave details of the 16 promotion lines that have their call open from November 30 to January 7, 14 and 21, depending on the promotion line to which they apply.

At the event, Robalino emphasized that this call will be characterized by offering a more friendly process and with fewer steps to complete, this in order to apply a methodology that allows the simplification of procedures.

He also mentioned that he seeks to decentralize the funds, since 70% of them have remained in Quito. “This second call proposes to reach all the provinces of the country”, assured.

He expressed that most of them have been destined for the cinema sector. “In recent years, more than 6 million dollars have been delivered only to the cinema sector, and yet the rest of the arts together reach the same data. Inequality is not only regional, it is geographical, social and gender-based, it is also institutional ”, said the also actress.

He spoke of seeking diversity and the participation of new actors and cultural managers, who will not be required to be registered in the RUAC. “We want to reach new managers, you support this ship with me”, he stated.

In this way, the application stage will be made up of three blocks that make up the different lines. The first block culminates its application stage on January 7, 2022 and in this are the lines of ‘Feature film post-production: fiction, documentary, or animation’, ‘Creation and production processes in literary arts’, ‘Creation processes in performing arts and living arts’, ‘Co-creation: design and crafts’ and ‘Mobility’. For this block, the IFCI will allocate $ 897,000 to 39 beneficiary projects.

The second block culminates its application stage on January 14, 2022, and in this the lines of ‘Development of a bible for a feature film or animated series’, ‘Author training processes in writing, editorial management and repositories’, ‘Network of Scenic Spaces’, ‘Production (2nd call EP popular / academic music + video clip)’, ‘Animated short film production’ and ‘Production and assembly of performing arts and living arts works’. For these lines the IFCI will allocate $ 550,000 to 34 beneficiary projects.

The third block has open its call until January 21, 2022. This covers the lines of ‘Minority co-production’, ‘Training processes in performing arts and living arts’, ‘Training processes in plastic arts, visual arts and crafts’, ‘Living community culture, indigenous peoples and nationalities, the Afro-Ecuadorian people and the Montubio people’ and ‘Production of a fiction feature film for peoples and nationalities’. For these lines, $ 1,000,000 will be delivered to 55 beneficiary projects.

Fernández and Robalino mentioned that 90% of the jury for this call will be international and with a “good technical level”.
