Shannen Doherty was one of the stars invited to 90s Con in the USA. The actress met her friends from the set of “Beverly Hills 90210” and spoke with tears in her eyes about her illness. Doherty suffers from breast cancer with brain metastases.

She gained fame as Brenda in the cult series “Beverly Hills 90210”. The actress has played in many films and series over the years, but it is with the role of Brenda that she is most associated. No wonder she appeared at the 90s Con convention in Tampa, Florida on a panel dedicated to “Beverly Hills 90210”.

For several years, however, Shannen Doherty has been talked about not in the context of subsequent film or television roles, but in the context of a serious cancer disease. In 2015, the actress announced that she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and in 2020 she announced that .

I have the fourth and final stage of cancer. My cancer has returned. I still have a lot of things to do, I’m still fighting to stay alive. (…) There are days when I wonder: why me? Other times I think, well, why not me? Who else? Who else deserves this? Nobody deserves this, she wrote on social media at the time.

During the meeting with friends from the set of “Beverly Hills 90210” and fans last Sunday, this topic could not be left out. Shannen Doherty was greeted with a standing ovation, to which the actress reacted with emotion. When her friends from the stage wanted to join in the standing ovation, she tried to stop them. She couldn’t say anything for a long moment, and when she finally found her voice, she thanked the crowd:

You know well that I cry almost all the time, she said, thanking her fans with tears in her eyes. – Every day I fight for my life. I think I’m doing really well.

The original crew of the “Beverly Hills 90210” series has remained one of the most close-knit in the world of American series for years. The actors maintain contact with each other and regularly meet privately and with fans. Doherty worked on the set for four seasons of the show.
