Surfias usually bloom from June to October. They have cup-shaped flowers that come in several colors: white, pink, purple, red, yellow, blue and even mixed. The leaves are small and densely cover the shoots. If you take proper care of the plant, it can sprout new buds even in December.

Surfinia. What does it need to grow healthily?

Surfinia grows best in a sunny position, protected from strong wind and rain. The soil should be fertile and well loosened. The plant requires regular watering and fertilization, preferably with a potassium-phosphorus mixture with iron. When winter comes, we usually cut the shoots by a few centimeters and take them home so that the surfinia can survive the winter there. We only put it outside in May, when we are sure that there are no more frosts. However, this does not mean that we cannot enjoy its impressive flowers in winter.

Growing surfinia. What to do to make it bloom in winter?

For it to bloom in December, you need to move it indoors. At the end of September, we water it abundantly, cut the branches by 10 cm, and remove the top leaves and flowers. Then we dip the surfinia in a rooting agent for soft plants and plant it in a pot. The soil should be light, preferably mixed with sand in a 1:1 ratio. We take the flower home and put it in a bright room where the temperature is about 16 degrees C. Do not put it next to the radiator. After 30 days, you can move the surfinia to the windowsill. It should be watered regularly to keep the soil moist. In December you will see new buds.
