The role of the cruel and ruthless mortal enemy of the main character, Colonel Dowgird, made him recognizable, but fans did not always react positively. There were awkward moments. – After the broadcast of the series, which turned out to be a huge hit, I encountered various, quite funny slights. It even got to the point that in the shop where I bought fresh milk every day, Mrs. Jadzia didn’t want to sell it to me because I was chasing her beloved Colonel Dowgird – . However, before he joined the cast of the series, he appeared in several other cult and well-known productions.

Maciej Rayzacher made his debut in 1959 in the film “Sleepwalkers”. Three years later, he graduated from the Łódź Film School. After studies, he returned to his hometown of Warsaw. In the 1960s and 1970s, he worked in theaters in the capital, and also appeared in films and series such as “The stakes are higher than life”, “The Columbuses”, “The Plague” and “The House”. Three years after appearing in “Black Clouds”, he joined the Workers’ Defense Committee. His involvement in opposition activities during the Polish People’s Republic had consequences for his career. – I was successfully cured of acting by an institution called the Security Service – in “Życie na Gorąco”. As he mentioned directly, his access was blocked not only from roles in films and television, but also in the theater. He was interned during martial law, and after 1983 he appeared in several productions. Eventually, he abandoned his acting career in favor of social activities, including: district councilor in Warsaw’s Ochota district. He returned to playing in 2009, after a 19-year break. He played in the series “Popiełuszko. Freedom jest w nas”, in 2017 he played in the film “Cursed”.
Maciej Rayzacher is 83 years old today. Although 50 years have passed since the premiere of “Black Clouds”, fans can still recognize him on the street, although some wonder where they recognize his face. – It surprises me a bit, because I look different now. My hero is a clearly negative character, a vulgar type, in other words: a villain, which is why it was probably easier to remember him – in one of the interviews.
