Tadeusz Nalepa’s professional debut dates back to 1963. Just two years later, together with , who became his first wife and mother of his only son, Piotr, he founded the big beat band Blackout. Although the musicians were the first in Poland to play blues, the new musical genre quickly gained a loyal group of listeners. Initially, they performed standards from the repertoire of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and over time they also began to compose music to lyrics by the poet Bogdan Loebel. Together they launched, among others: the great hit “If You Loved, Hej”. After only 2 years, the group suspended its activities, and soon returned to the industry as the blues-rock band Breakout, which conquered the Polish music scene for the next 13 years.
Together with the Nalepa band, he recorded as many as 10 studio albums, and the songs from them are still considered timeless. The most popular of them include: “I would follow you” or “On the other side of the rainbow”. The good streak lasted almost continuously until the outbreak of martial law, when the decision was made to end the cooperation. For Nalepa, however, it was not the end of his career, as he focused on his solo development. He recorded new songs, and in the second half of the 1980s he even returned to regular concerts not only in Poland but also abroad. As a soloist, he has released as many as 9 albums and has also created compilations with other artists.
