Karolina Gręda, known on social media as , is a pharmacy technician and aromatherapy specialist. In one of her posts, she discussed the impact of perfumes on our health. As she notes, these cosmetics contain many toxic substances that can cause irritation, allergies and migraines. “Stop poisoning yourself,” she appealed.

Toxins in the composition of perfumes

At the beginning of the recording, Karolina Gręda pointed out that perfumes available in drugstores may be toxic. “Most perfumes contain a huge number of chemical compounds,” she emphasized and mentioned the names of some of them: phthalates, tonalite, benzophenone, galaxolide, octinoxate, oxybenzone. “They can cause severe and persistent migraines that allegedly have no specific cause. Perfumes contain phthalates that seriously disrupt hormonal balance. They also lead to damage to the nervous system in children. Diethyl phthalate, which has long been associated with serious sperm damage” – she continued.

Moreover, in the description of the recording, the expert added that some of the perfume ingredients may cause allergic reactions, rashes, skin or respiratory irritation in sensitive people. Perfume ingredients also contribute to air pollution in closed rooms, and in the process of production, consumption and disposal, they negatively affect the environment. She also warned people with asthma against using them. “People with asthma or other respiratory diseases may experience worsening symptoms after exposure to perfume scents,” she wrote.

An alternative to perfume

The woman claims that a better solution is to use essential oils. “They have health-promoting effects and have a beneficial effect on our emotions,” she emphasized. Most often, they are obtained from stewed or fresh plants by steam distillation or hydrodistillation. They have natural compositions and, depending on the type, have health-promoting properties.
