Home skin care methods are becoming more and more popular every year. Their supporters are convinced by the fact that they are based on natural products, are widely available, and are easy to prepare and use. Many of them often come from kitchen cabinets. However, few people wonder whether applying some of them to the face, hair or nails will not bring the opposite results than expected.

Homemade products have their advantages and disadvantages, which are worth being aware of. Some ingredients should not be used in hair or skin care. Cosmetologist Izabela BagiƄska spoke about products with unfavorable effects in an interview with The expert advises you to stay away from, among others: From:

  • lemon juice, as it may irritate the facial skin.
  • coffee-soaked pads under the eyes, as there is a risk of irritating these areas of the skin and even leading to conjunctivitis.
  • eggs for hair, because it does not have any effect on its own and must be used, e.g. with oil.
  • oil on your face, because it will not make it moisturized, but only oily. All we will gain is clogged pores and disturbed functioning of the sebaceous glands.
  • rosemary, which is often an ingredient of facial peeling. As a consequence, it may cause skin irritation.

There is a reason why many people prefer natural ingredients to chemical-based ones. For fans of home care based on natural products, however, there is a large list of things worth using. The most popular natural skin care products include: aloe, apple cider vinegar, argan oil, avocado oil, cedar oil, coconut oil, evening primrose oil, grape seed oil, green tea, hemp seed oil, jojoba oil, turmeric.
