Russia has today guaranteed itself the North Korean support in their “holy fight” in Ukraine within the framework of the summit between the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-unand his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putinin which both exhibited their harmony and rejection of Western imperialism.

“Russia has now risen up in a holy struggle to defend its sovereignty and security (…). We have always supported and we support all the decisions of President Putin“Kim told the Russian leader during the second meeting between the two since 2019 at the Russian Vostochny Cosmodrome, in the Siberian Amur region.

The North Korean leader has arrived in the Russian Far East amid strong suspicions from the West about the intention of both countries to strengthen military and space cooperation through a weapons and technology supply agreement.

According to Western sources, Kim would be willing to support Moscow’s war with “millions” of shells and ammunition for artillery.

Kim traveled to Russia with a delegation that included his sister Kim Yo-Jong, and the defense and foreign ministers, as well as the director of the Industrial Department of Munitions and the secretary for Science and Education of the Central Committee of the Party of the Workers, linked to the North Korean space program.

Cooperation despite sanctions

Despite warnings from the West and Asia that there may be new sanctions for both countries, Putin and Kim showed their willingness to strengthen military ties. “There are certain restrictions. Russia complies with all these restrictions, but there are things about which, of course, we can talk (…). There are perspectives here too,” said the head of the Kremlin at the end of the summit.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov has indicated that Moscow will develop relations with its North Korean neighbor “despite the reproaches” made against it. And Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has warned that if the West intends to push for a new sanctions resolution against North Korea in the Security Council, it will not have the support of either Russia or China.
