We are talking about the band Trup Trupa, which needs no introduction to many listeners both in Poland and abroad. The Gdańsk band recorded in the same label as Nirvana, and Iggy Pop himself loves their songs. The Godfather of punk rock not only wears the Polish band’s T-shirt, but also promotes it in his own broadcasts.
“Trupa Trupa is the best!”
The band boasted on social media about a comment that Agnieszka Holland posted about it on social media. “Trupa Trupa is the best!” – wrote the winner of the award in Venice. The group did not remain indebted to the director and wrote back: “Agnieszka Holland is the best!”
“We are very grateful and proud that our music is part of the soundtrack to this unique film,” we read in Trupa Trupa’s post on Instagram. Anyone who knows the band’s work has no doubt that they were the perfect choice for this collaboration. In their compositions, artists often raise the topic of cruelty, exclusion and discrimination. Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, the author of dark lyrics in Trupa Trupa, has repeatedly emphasized in interviews that the band wants to oppose far-right hate speech.
The author’s words, which were spoken in an interview for Onet, are also significant here: “I believe that everyone has a creator and a murderer within themselves. If we face this dark side, we can become better people. This is the meaning of my poetry.”
Trupa Trupa, however, does not rest on its laurels and continues to work on the development of its work. The band recently published their latest single “Thrill”, which was included in the best new music section of the main edition of Rolling Stone magazine.
