The Virgin River will go up in flames, literally and figuratively. The fire is also visible in the Netflix ranking

Just four days ago, the new, 5th season of “Virgin River” premiered. The series entered Netflix with a bang, where it already took 2nd place in the TOP 10 most watched series ranking. However, the considerable interest in this title should not surprise anyone – after all, from the announcements themselves we could conclude that a lot will happen this season! [Uwaga na spojlery].

As announced, a huge tragedy will befall the inhabitants of the titular town. In episodes 5 and 6 there will be a forest fire that will spread to the Virgin River area. The organization of firefighting and the evacuation of the local population will rest on the shoulders of the main characters. With Jack’s help, Hope will get planes to help put out the fire. Lizzie and Denny will be in trouble, as the fire will cut off their escape route.

How was “Virgin River” season 5 filmed?

It must be admitted that the scenes of fighting against the elements presented in the series look very realistic. The director of “Virgin River” admitted that shooting such shots with limited resources was almost a miracle. In addition, the creators encountered numerous problems along the way.

“The hardest thing was that it was the middle of summer, the height of fire season here in Vancouver, and there was a no-burn law that said no one could light a fire any higher than about 20 cm above the ground. Meanwhile, we figured we’d just set the whole thing on fire.” city”. – Martin Wood admitted.

Due to lack of funds, the creators resorted to visual effects. The production budget did not provide for scenes shot on a Hollywood scale.

“The visual effects that we use are things that happen in the distance. And I think one of the things that we all decided right away that we weren’t going to do was that we weren’t going to use a lot of visual effects other than to show the illusion of closeness. Of course, that was something we couldn’t do with effects – unless you’re Christopher Nolan, you don’t get that opportunity.” – Added the director.

Martin Wood also mentioned the use of recordings that were made, among others, during the fires in Australia. The producers edited the several-second clips to match the scene in which Kaia and Sarah are walking through an area ravaged by fire.
